The Hector Von Bayer Museum is also located on the grounds of the D.C. Booth Historic National Fish Hatchery & Archives. The museum is housed in the original hatchery building built in 1899. The Victorian architectural style was the standard for hatchery buildings constructed at that time throughout the United States. This structure has been preserved by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Booth Society and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Buildings.

During the early years of the hatchery, eggs were hatched and fingerlings were reared on the ground floor - Today exhibits tell the story of American fish culture. The upper level served as living quarters for the superintendent and his family. Displays and exhibits share stories of fisheries history including hatching, rearing, feeding, stocking and much more.

Make sure to stop in and tour this interesting piece of American history during your visit!

One of the highlights of the DC Booth Fish Hatchery is shopping at The Pond Gift Shop. There is an eclectic mix of customized memorabilia, whimsical and functional items to be discovered here.
